Best quantum leap episodes8/12/2023 The killer then escapes from the Quantum Leap project and Al has to go hunt him down or else Sam will be stuck in the past. “Killin’ Time” got to see Al kick some butt, as Sam leaps into the life of a sadistic killer holding a woman and her daughter hostage. For such an Al-centric episode, though, Dean Stockwell really didn’t have a ton to do. Obviously, Sam eventually clears Al’s name and Al was back to normal. As the odds grew, Al suddenly disappeared as Sam’s helper, as Al, you know, died in the past. She then died that night, as she did in the original history, only now Al had no alibi and so Sam had to work really hard to clear his name. A married woman who had a relationship with young Al was going to explain that she was his alibi, but Sam guessed that he was here to keep her from ruining her reputation, so he told her not to. “A Leap for Lisa” sees Sam leap into Al’s life when Al was a young man, accused of a rape and murder. There are obviously MANY great episodes for Al, but I can’t just rattle off 90 episodes, so I’ll hold myself to just four honorable mentions. In honor of Stockwell (who passed away on Sunday), I am going to count down my picks for the five best episodes of Quantum Leap with Stockwell in mind. Stockwell was the median aged nominee at 57!). That last Lowe win was particularly interesting because Lowe was 25 while the other four nominees were 53, 57, 63 and 71. The show, and their performances on it, were highly acclaimed, with Stockwell being nominated for an Emmy Award four times as Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (losing to, respectively, Jimmy Smits, Timothy Busfield, Richard Dysart and Chad Lowe. The late Dean Stockwell was a very important part of Quantum Leap, as he and star Scott Bakula were literally the only two regular cast members of the series. This is Top Five, where I rank certain pieces of pop culture. Today, we count down the top five Dean Stockwell episodes of Quantum Leap.

Hypothyroidism up to date8/12/2023 Consensus was achieved for all recommendations by the task force. Stakeholder input was received at a national meeting, with some subsequent refinement of the clinical questions addressed in the document. The final document was organized so that each topic is introduced with a question, followed by a formal clinical recommendation. For clinical recommendations, the supporting evidence was appraised, and the strength of each clinical recommendation was assessed, using the American College of Physicians system. When responses were not suitable for a formal clinical recommendation, a summary response statement without a formal clinical recommendation was developed. The responses to questions were formatted, when possible, in the form of a formal clinical recommendation statement. Ethics reviews were provided, when relevant, by a bioethicist. Clinical reviews were supplemented, when relevant, with related mechanistic and bench research literature reviews, performed by our team of translational scientists. The clinical literature relating to each question was then reviewed. Methods: Task force members identified 24 questions relevant to the treatment of hypothyroidism. This document is intended to inform clinical decision-making on thyroid hormone replacement therapy it is not a replacement for individualized clinical judgment. We wished to determine whether there are sufficient new data generated by well-designed studies to provide reason to pursue such therapies and change the current standard of care. The purpose of this task force was to review the goals of levothyroxine therapy, the optimal prescription of conventional levothyroxine therapy, the sources of dissatisfaction with levothyroxine therapy, the evidence on treatment alternatives, and the relevant knowledge gaps. An algorithm for a correct approach of these disorders when linked is also provided. Background: A number of recent advances in our understanding of thyroid physiology may shed light on why some patients feel unwell while taking levothyroxine monotherapy. We also discuss the major causes of failure to achieve an optimal management of thyroid dysfunction in diabetic patients and provide recommendations for assessing and treating these disorders during therapy with antidiabetic drugs. Therefore, we offer recommendations for the diagnosis, management, and screening of thyroid disorders in patients with diabetes mellitus, including the treatment of diabetic patients planning a pregnancy. An untreated thyroid dysfunction can impair the metabolic control of diabetic patients, and this association can have important repercussions on the outcome of both of these disorders. We also elucidate the common susceptibility genes and the pathogenetic mechanisms contributing to the autoimmune mechanism involved in the onset of type 1 diabetes mellitus and autoimmune thyroid disorders. We assess the current state of knowledge on the central and peripheral control of thyroid hormone on food intake and glucose and lipid metabolism in target tissues (such as liver, white and brown adipose tissue, pancreatic β cells, and skeletal muscle) to explain the mechanism linking overt and subclinical hypothyroidism to type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. This review critically discusses the different underlying mechanisms linking type 1 and 2 diabetes and thyroid dysfunction to demonstrate that the association of these two common disorders is unlikely a simple coincidence. Several studies have documented the increased prevalence of thyroid disorders in patients with diabetes mellitus and vice versa. Thyroid dysfunction and diabetes mellitus are closely linked. Nike air force one women8/11/2023 But when exactly the white Air Force 1 Low was first released remains something of an enigma. Crispy like white Reeboks - a popular hustler shoe in certain NYC boroughs, back when such stylistic divisions were a thing - the white on white colorway let the ageless look of Kilgore’s creation speak. But without its initial inner city fan base keeping it alive, the Force would most likely be little more than a shoe praised by true connoisseurs and historians but forgotten by everyone else. The subsequent gentrification of urban sneaker culture gives the impression that the AF1 is a people's shoe that transcends race, gender, and class. Footwear prices may have recruited a fair share of soldiers, and those soldiers in turn helped birth even more sneaker fanaticism. Dealers’ pristine shoes, ostentatious automobiles, and oversized jewelry set a new standard of aspiration - one that required the kind of money that only the fast life seemed to provide. As a result of the crack epidemic that tore apart East Coast inner cities from roughly 1984 to 1993, there was plenty of expendable dough to be spent. Rarely spotted makeups could be acquired by those in the know from fabled stores like Troop co-founder Teddy Held’s long-defunct spot in the South Bronx, nicknamed “Jew Man.”īig brands don’t acknowledge it openly, drug dealers and hustlers were the true style influencers of their era. Phased out shortly afterwards, the AF1 returned around 1986 to select East Coast stores (with a slightly altered shape complete with more regional exclusives). Those exclusives turned the city into a destination for Forces footwear tourism along Interstate 95 brought the sneaker’s cult status to D.C. But the model lengthened its lifeline thanks to an extended collection of different colors, a byproduct of a “color of the month” initiative pushed by a cartel of Baltimore retailers (Charley Rudo, Downtown Locker Room, and Cinderella Shoes) making ambitious orders for special makeups. Nike’s initial intent was to shelve the AF1 in favor of the next style, the next technology. Inevitably, bolder, team-color Forces would follow-as would a low-cut, making the Air Force 1 an even more popular choice when it hit retail on a wider scale in 1983. The neutral white and grey palette was one of the only parts of the shoe that played it safe. On its 1982 introduction to the court, Nike designer Bruce Kilgore’s creation, initially only available as a high top, was striking for its hiking-boot-inspired cues and uniquely chunky sole-it was the first Nike Air cushioning on a hoops shoe. The hyped-up collaborations and limited-run collectibles may have given the AF1 a covetable level of prestige and helped spread its gospel to new generations, but the monotone makeups, particularly the white-on-white, have been the ones keeping the lights on at most sneaker shops over the years. A decade ago, sporting-goods analyst Matt Powell told the New York Times that the shoe sold an estimated 12 million pairs in 2005 alone, more than two decades after its debut the sneaker is still Nike’s second bestseller a decade later, according to Powell. The white Air Force 1 Low is one of the bestselling shoes of all time. One rare example of such sneakers that cross over into both worlds is the Nike Air Force 1 in its most popular, iconic style: low-cut, in all-white. For Nike, the shoes that sell shareholder-pleasing units tend to be white leather shoes l ike the dad-friendly Air Monarch line-ones that cool kids and connoisseurs hate. They’re consistently worn by both footwear enthusiasts and the general public. The ones that do are the true classics-the trends that graduate to staples. With double the Swoosh, the layered design of the Nike Air Force 1 Shadow is a striking re-imagining of the legendary Air Force 1 trainer. In the world of sneakers, few styles last. The Nike Air Force 1 Pixel features an exaggerated outsole and midsole, plus the new cube logo for a bold, edgy feel. Redesigns mean fresh looks with retro b-ball twists. Since their relaunch in 1986, Nike Air Force 1 women's trainers have stayed at the cutting edge of footwear innovation. What's more, the grooved outsole delivers flexibility and ensures a lightweight feel, so you can step, run and jump with nothing holding you back. Plus, stitched overlays add extra support and durability where you need it. The super-soft foam midsole provides springy cushioning for bounce and all-day comfort. Innovative features mean Nike women's Air Force 1 trainers help you reach your goals. Created as a performance basketball shoe, the Air Force 1 was the first to offer air cushioning in the heel, revolutionising the trainer game. Designed by Bruce Kilgore in 1982, the women's Air Force 1 has become a style icon, thanks to its vintage feel and minimal silhouette. Schedule xxh pipe pressure rating8/11/2023 The inside diameter will depend upon the pipe wall thickness specified by the schedule number. For a given NPS, the outside diameter stays constant and the wall thickness increases with larger schedule number. For NPS 14 and larger, the NPS is equal to 14inch. The NPS is very loosely related to the inside diameter in inches, and NPS 12 and smaller pipe has outside diameter greater than the size designator. For example, NPS 6 indicates a pipe whose outside diameter is 168.3 mm. It indicates standard pipe size when followed by the specific size designation number without an inch symbol. Nominal pipe size NPS is a dimensionless designator of pipe size. As the schedule is increased, so does the wall thickness. Obviously increasing the wall thickness of the pipe increases the mechanical strength of the pipe, allowing it to handle higher design press. The pipe schedule sets the pipe Wall Thickness (WT). The pipes are always specified by outside diameter, never by inside diameter. Outside diameter (OD) is the outside diameter of the pipe and is fixed for a given size. NB is also frequently used interchangeably with NPS. Nominal Bore (NB) is the European designation equivalent to NPS is DN (diamètre nominal/nominal diameter/Durchmesser nach Norm), in which sizes are measured in millimeters. Note that on this website only terms XS and XXS are used. Accordingly, pipes were made with double extra strong (XXS) or double extra heavy (XXH) walls, while the standardized outside diameters are unchanged. The higher pressure requirements increased further, with thicker wall pipes. The outside diameter of the pipe was standardized.Īs the industrial requirements handling higher pressure fluids, pipes were manufactured with thicker walls, which has become known as an extra strong (XS) or extra heavy (XH). To begin, each pipe size was produced to have one thickness, which later was termed as standard (STD) or standard weight (STD.WT.). Users started to call the pipe as 2inch, 4inch, 6inch pipe and so on. An IPS 6' pipe is one whose inside diameter is approximately 6 inches. The size represented the approximate inside diameter of the pipe in inches. That IPS system was established to designate the pipe size. The name NPS is based on the earlier Iron Pipe Size (IPS) system. Pipe size is specified with two non-dimensional numbers: a nominal pipe size (NPS) for diameter based on inches, and a schedule (Sched. Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) is a North American set of standard sizes for pipes and fittings used for high or low pressures and temperatures.
